Detail Is Key

2D Drafting is an integral part of the design process and is used to communicate the technical information and requirements with your supplier in the form of a ‘Technical Drawing’ for them to manufacture the part successfully. These technical drawings are the blueprint for your design and are created to ensure 100% clarity, removing any ambiguity and therefore reducing the possibility of a supplier manufacturing your part incorrectly.

Once the ‘Technical Drawings’ have been created, we supply them as a PDF so that both you and your supplier can view the files without the requirement for any additional software. If you design involves sheet metal, we can export the flat pattern as a DXF or DWG file so that your supplier can upload this information directly into their equipment, saving you time and additional expense. The drawings will be your ‘Intellectual Property’ so that you have the reassurance they will only be distributed to a third party that you deem necessary, offering you complete control and security over your designs.

Control and Quality

These documents are not only used for your supplier to manufacture the part but can also be used by your ‘Goods-In‘ and ‘Inspection Departments’ as an additional check that the physical part has been manufactured correctly.

Technical Drawings also provide your supplier with tolerances so that they understand what the minimum and maximum size of a given dimension can be for your part or assembly to function as intended.

Sheet Metal Flat Patterns

If your design requires sheet metal components, we can export the technical drawing as DXF or DWG file as a flat pattern which significantly reduces the change of an error during manufacturing. The file will contain all the features, positions and sizes so that your supplier can upload this directly into their laser cutting machine and therefore remove the possibility of misinterpretation.

Machined Components

Machined components tend to require tighter tolerances and therefore it is critical that these tolerances are communicated to your supplier. The 3D model may represent your design with 'nominal' dimensions, however the maximum and minimum dimensions for a given feature can be explained by using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to provide clarity.

Welded Assemblies

Ensuring that your supplier welds the correct parts in the correct orientation and in the correct position can all be captured and explained in a technical drawing. Or, if you require a specific welding wire to comply with a specific standard or regulation, this information can be included on the drawing so that your supplier is aware of your requirements and can therefore quote accordingly.

Layout

2D Drawings can be a very useful tool if you're looking to accurately capture the floor layout of a room, whether this be moving into new offices or ensuring your equipment will fit within a customers factory. If you know the dimensions of the available space, we're able to replicate a plan view of the given space to a 1:1 scale so that you get a true understanding of the installation.
