Once you have finalised the engineering information for your design regarding geometry, features and functionality; creating a photorealistic render can be a very powerful tool to visualise your design as it would be purchased. Rendering offers the flexibility to create several variations of the same design but with different colours, materials and finishes which saves you the time and cost of manufacturing several different prototypes.
These renders can then be used to gather market feedback from existing and new customers so that you can make any necessary changes that the market is asking for, before beginning the manufacturing stage. If your design is time sensitive, releasing the renders to your customers before you begin manufacturing can be an excellent method to capture interest in the final few stages of your design.
Renders can be generated in the form of several individual still images, or as an animation to capture your product in its working environment. Deciding whether you need images, or an animation is entirely down to your project and its requirements, although having both to release onto your social media and website is always an option.
Throughout my 10 Year Engineering career, I’ve had the privilege of gaining an understanding of designing for a multitude of different industries, ranging from Industrial equipment through to Automotive and Aviation.
These industries, although very different share the same principle of adhering to standards and traceability which I have incorporated into the daily tasks of O’Brien Engineering.
